Crochet mandala /table mat 2

Hi there, I thought I’d show you something a little different today, as I’ve been playing hooky and was doing some crochet yesterday (sorry for the bad pun!)

Yesterday started off well- I had both the children up and ready for school and preschool, only to get a message from my neighbour asking if I’d forgotten about teacher training day.. so child one got an extra day off that was an unexpected bonus for him!

instead of forcing him to sit home watching me do computer work, we went to see a family friend, walked the dog, and all the usual fun things- then whilst he sat down to watch some cartoons, we got a little hooky… I decided to crochet a fun mandala table mat from ‘Crochet for the home’ book  in chunky yarn… it looked really pretty, but the yarn didn’t react well to washing, so it will be put in the cats bed 😉

so last night, once I got home, I started on another in much finer DK yarn- baby pink, lilac and purple and it looks so pretty! I finished it off this morning and gave it a quick press.

and voila, I really like the colour scheme, despite not being a fan of pastel colours usually… the great thing is you can mix and match your colours for striking effect, different colour tones and schemes lead to very different results!

what do you think?

p.s don’t do what I just did, and forget there was water still in the iron when you move it…. I just gave myself a quick bath in freezing cold Iron water!
