Cristin is a self taught artist with a wonderfully refreshing style, incorporating hand drawn phrases with zendoodles and other drawings, which look stunning however you choose to colour them!
she calls it ‘swearapy’ and I totally agree with her.
This book has a gloss cover, with previews of the main colouring pages (save the bonus pages, name page, and copy of the front cover in colouring page format)
This book contains 22 sweary pages to colour plus 9 bonus colouring pages, and a double sided hand drawn font page for creating your own personal use pages. there is also 3 blotter pages at the back of the book, and a colour palette practice sheet! it is one of the few books I’ve seen with a built in colour ‘test’ page, which is great if you don’t have any spare paper on hand to test your colour combos before committing to them on a page- and potentially wrecking it…
The page used as the book cover is the first page for you to colour inside this book, ahead of a page where you can write your own name – just to save your book from inadvertently walking off when a friend or family member realises just how cool it is, and helping themselves!
This book is a wonderful mixture of simple and more complicated pages, all with tongue in cheek sweary sayings on each page, such as ‘ fuck it all’ , and ‘giving a fuck doesn’t really go with my outfit’.
It is bound to leave you giggling, and downright snort laughing in places , which can be a little hard to explain.
Each page has a space on the reverse for you to sign the page, date it, and make a note of what medium you used, which is really handy in case anyone wants to ask you later, and you can’t remember!
This book is perfect for you to use pencils on, and gel pens- I wouldn’t advise it to be used with markers if you want to get a really good blend, as the paper is usual create space quality, which will bleed when you use alcohol markers or felt tips, but fear not! this book is also available in PDF format on Cristin’s Etsy page, for you to print off on higher quality paper/cardstock if you are a hardcore marker addict. if you aren’t that fussed, because the reverse of the page only has the aforementioned details on it, you can simply tear out and use the blotter pages from the back of the book, to protect the page after it from any bleed through.
I genuinely like this book , and not just because I won her cover art colouring contest! I’ve immensely enjoyed colouring pages from it, and have already given away several copies to friends and family who enjoy Cristin’s art as much as I do.
I’ve coloured the mermaid and lotus flower page from the main section of this book and the buddha from the bonus pages , to give you an example of what the pages can look like coloured. The mermaid page is coloured with copic markers and the lotus flower and buddha pages were coloured using marco raffine pencils from the set of 72.
